Ans . Horace Danby is a book - lover . He likes to read and collect rare and expensive books . He needs money to buy these books . He is not very well off . So he steals every year to buy books .

Ans . Yes , we began to suspect that the lady was not the person Horace Danby took her to be . In other words , she was not the mistress of the house as she had posed to be . We know this when the lady says that she has always liked the wrong kind of people . Ans . The lady poses to be the real mistress of the house . She is full of confidence . She is a thief like Horace . But she is very clever and intelligent . He tells Horace that she has heard his voice from the top of the house . In addition to this , she has Sherry , the dog of the house with her . She calls it by his name . She is licking her hand . She has firmness in her voice . She threatens Horace that she would call the police and get him arrested soon . At this Horace gets frightened . He begs the lady to let him go . The lady played her tactics so wonderfully that Horace could not suspect her that she was a thief like him .
महिला घर की असली मालकिन बन जाती है। वह आत्मविश्वास से भरी हुई है। वह होरेस की तरह चोर है। लेकिन वह बहुत चालाक और बुद्धिमान है। वह होरेस को बताता है कि उसने घर के ऊपर से उसकी आवाज सुनी है। इसके अलावा उनके साथ घर का कुत्ता शेरी भी है। वह इसे अपने नाम से बुलाती है। वह अपना हाथ चाट रही है। उसकी वाणी में दृढ़ता है। वह होरेस को धमकी देती है कि वह पुलिस को बुलाएगी और उसे जल्द ही गिरफ्तार कर लेगी। इस पर होरेस भयभीत हो जाता है। वह महिला से उसे जाने देने के लिए कहता है। महिला ने अपनी रणनीति इतनी शानदार तरीके से निभाई कि होरेस को उस पर शक नहीं हुआ कि वह भी उसकी तरह चोर है।
3 . " Horace Danby was good and respectable - but not completely honest " .Why do you think this description is apt for Horace ? Why can't he be categorised as a typical thief ? सोचते हैं कि ( होरेस डेनबी अच्छा और आदरणीय या लेकिन वह पूर्ण रूप से ईमानदार नहीं था । आप यह क्यों यह वर्णन उसके लिए उपयुक्त है ? आप उसे आम चोरो की श्रेणी में क्यों नहीं रख सकते ? )
Ans . Horace Danby was a good and respectful man.But he was not completely honest . He used to rob a house once a year . He did it to buy rare and expensive books . Since he was not habitual of stealing things like ordinary thieves . He cannot be categorised as a typical thief because his purpose of stealing was peculiar . Moreover he stole only once a year to buy books .
होरेस डेनबी एक अच्छा और सम्मानित व्यक्ति था। लेकिन वह पूरी तरह से ईमानदार नहीं था। वह साल में एक बार घर लूटता था। उसने दुर्लभ और महंगी किताबें खरीदने के लिए ऐसा किया। चूंकि उसे साधारण चोरों की तरह सामान चुराने की आदत नहीं थी। उसे एक विशिष्ट चोर के रूप में वर्गीकृत नहीं किया जा सकता क्योंकि उसका चोरी करने का उद्देश्य अजीब था। इसके अलावा वह साल में केवल एक बार किताबें खरीदने के लिए चोरी करता था।
4. Horace Danby was a meticulous planner but still he faltered . Where did he go wrong and why ? ( होरेस डैनची बड़ी सूझबूझ के साथ योजना बनाने वाला था फिर भी वह गलती कर बैठा । उसने कहाँ गलती की थी और क्यों ?
Ans . Horace Danby was a very careful planner . Before robbing a house he took a long time to study the house . He used to look at its rooms , its electric wiring , its paths and its garden . Before entering a house to rob , Horace used to wear gloves so that no sign of his fingertips were left behind . But in opening the safe at Shotover Grange he faltered . He opened the safe and gave all the jewellery to the lady without wearing gloves . As a result , his finger prints were four everywhere in the room and he was caught by the police to be a thief.
